Every Play Is Open
Traditional Coed formats often require certain plays or downs to involve a female player. 5x5 Football takes a different approach.
We don't tell your offense who has to get the football. There are no mandatory gender plays, no forced female touches, and no alternating male/female play sequence.
Instead, female players can impact the scoreboard through bonus touchdown scoring while teams retain complete control over their offensive strategy.
No Gender Play
Any eligible player can throw, run, or catch the football on any play. Your offense decides where the ball goes.
Women Impact The Score
A qualifying touchdown involving a female quarterback, runner, receiver, or defensive scorer receives a +1 point bonus.

Teams aren't locked into a traditional on-field gender ratio. Build your roster around your players and your style of football.
No Forced Gender Plays.
Every down is open. Every eligible player is part of the offense. Instead of requiring a gender play, 5x5 Football rewards female involvement when it directly contributes to a touchdown.
How The +1 Works
A standard touchdown is worth 6 points. Female involvement in a qualifying touchdown adds one bonus point.
Throw It
A female quarterback throws a legal touchdown pass. Touchdown = 7 points.
Catch It
A female receiver catches the touchdown pass. Touchdown = 7 points.
Run It
A female player legally carries the football across the goal line. Touchdown = 7 points.
One Bonus Per Touchdown
Bonus points do not stack. For example, if a female quarterback throws a touchdown to a female receiver, the touchdown is still worth 7 points — not 8. The normal automatic PAT is then applied under standard 5x5 rules.
Flexible Coed Rosters
Teams should register enough players to handle substitutions, injuries, and game-day availability.
Team Registration
Teams should register with a minimum roster of 7 players.
A larger roster is encouraged for tournaments and events where teams may play multiple games.
Game-Day Minimum
Games are designed for 5v5 play, but a team may compete with 4 eligible players to avoid a forfeit.

A four-man lineup with no female player is not permitted in the Coed division.
Competitive. Non-Contact.
5x5 Football Coed is a non-contact format. The only legal blocking action is a stationary, no-contact screen.
Players may establish position but may not initiate contact, extend their arms, push, hold, lean into a defender, move into a defender after establishing position, or escort the ball carrier.
The goal is simple: preserve the speed and strategy of 5x5 Football while creating a competitive format where players win with positioning, execution, and athleticism rather than contact.
